1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read 1,000 books with your little learner before kindergarten. It’s a fun way to help Grow Your Reader with a practice that is proven to build early literacy - exposing your child to lots of books!

What is early literacy? Early literacy is what kids know about reading and writing before they actually have those skills. Our Grow Your Reader initiative encourages parents to play, sing, write, talk, and READ with kids to help them get ready for reading success.

The St. Charles City-County Library has supplied our branches with beautiful book logs that can help you keep track. Stop by any of our children's desks and ask for one today! Start the new year with a goal to work toward 1000 books before kindergarten!
