Pawn is a great book! When I started to read it I was thinking it would be too much like The Hunger Games, but it really wasn’t.
There’s this girl, Kitty Doe, and she takes the test that places her as a I, II, III, IV, V, or VI. She ends up as a three which means she can either work at an illegal club, or, she can move to Denver and be far away from her boyfriend, working in the sewers. She opts for the club and someone “buys” her. This man is the Big Cheese. He is the man that runs the country, he is part the Hart family, and she’s offered a VII which means her life would be sweet and cushy—no strings attached. Of course, though, there are so many strings that he didn’t tell her. She gets Masked and she has to assume the role of Lila Hart—Big Cheese’s niece— who had started a revolt against her grandmother, Augusta Hart—which got her killed.
I give this book 4-out-of-5 rating because it was original and there wasn’t a ton of strong language. This book is also fast-paced and exciting!
