Tal, the main character of the book. The book is fictional where the chosen, the inhabitants of the earth, make a veil blocking out the sun prior to believing it being to powerful. Their light source is stones that glow like teh Sun. These "sunstones" carry the power to take the chosen to the spirit world, "Aenir". Tal, a son to a father gone missing, his mother bed sick and a 10 year-old brother and 3 year old sister. Tal must get a more powerful sunstone, leading him on an adventure where he must survive out on the ice away from castle.
