AOL at school resources are designed to help students research a topic, look for news and current events, and even help with science fair ideas.

Hosted by Information Please, Factmonster.com is a website full of fun and interesting facts. This site has a dictionary, encycopedia, almanac, atlas, homework center, games and much more!

Schoolwork.Ugh!
Schoolwork.Ugh! lists links to sites organized by category. There are over 25 categories, including history, law, art, music, drugs, quotes, philosophy, newspapers, maps, and science.

Ask Jeeves Kids
Besides submitting questions you may use Jeeves to look for news resources or select a subject area for help. The subjects include dictionaires, thesauruses, biographies, science, clip art, astronomy, world atlas, math, and history.

Select or search for a president to find brief biographical information. Some presidents are marked with an asteriks (*), which indicates there is expanded content.

History Channel
Find out what happened on "This day in History" or what happened on your birthday. Or, view historical clips and listen to speeches of the 20th century. You may also search for information by keyword.

Internet History Sourcebooks
The History Sourcebooks listed here are a "collection of public domain and copy-permitted historical texts". The sourcebooks are divided into three main categories: Anient, Medieval, and Modern.

Mr. Dowling's Electronic Passport
Here you can download study guides and search for historical information and facts by time period or geographic location. (You can also listen to Mr. Dowling's crazy voices.)

New Perspectives on the West
New Perspectives on the West provides information on the western frontier from 1500 to 1917. You may search for people or find information related to states, trails, and territories.

PBS History
PBS makes available their program and series sites related to history. The sites are divided into the Ancient World, Biographies, United States, War and Espionage, and the World. In addition, a section titled "Now and Then" compares today's life with life in the 1700s.

Uncle Sam For Kids
Hosted by the St. Charles City-County Library District, Uncle Sam for Kids can help you find a variety of web sites related to the government, American history, Native Americans, the presidents, and other world facts.

A+ is a step by step guide to researching and writing a paper. Here you can learn how to find information online and in the library. A list of links to other online resources about research and writing is also provided.

All Words will provide the English definition of a work and translate that word into Dutch, French, German, Italian or Spanish. There is also a section to assist you with crossword puzzle challenges.

Search for a word and find its definition and history. Dictionary.com includes biblical names, chemical elements, computer terms, and games! A thesaurus and translating tool are also available.

Mr. William Shakespeare and the Internet
This is an extensive site on all thing Shakespeare, including an online biographical timeline, critical resources, an annotated guide to scholarly online resources, performance and festival information, and links to Shakespeare's works in full-text online format.

Thesis Builder and Online Outliner
This site is designed to help you "draft a clear thesis statement for your persuasive essay". Simply fill in your topic and supplementary statements and the site will create an sample thesis statement or outline for your consideration.

Cool Science is divided into five main sections: Plant Parts, Air Junk, Critters, Butterflies, and Inch Square. In addition to the information provided on this site, there are interactive games and ideas for exploring offline.

NASA Homepage
Maintained by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, this site has sections devoted to Kids and Students, as well as Popular Topics and Missions. If you sected the student section, there is homework help, internet resources, and learning opportunities available.

Science Resource Center: Experiment Central
Science Resource Center is a database to which the library subscribes. The link above goes to items included in their "Experiment Central". To refine your search, simply go back to "Advanced Search", make sure "Experiment Central" is still listed as the source. And add your area of interest (e.g. acid rain) in the "Title/Headline" field. You may also use this database to locate articles related to your science experiment.

Welcome to the Rainforest
Welcome to the Rainforest features a plant database, gallery of rainforest pictures, articles about rainforest plants, and links to other rainforest related web sites.

The Why Files
The Why Files is devoted to the science behind the news. You can find current events or search the archives. There is also a file of "cool science images".
