King of the Wind
by Marguerite Henry

King of the Wind tells the story of the Godolphin Arabian, whose blood flows through the veins of almost every superior thoroughbred. I would recommend this book to my friends. I enjoyed reading this book because the horse and his boy go on many adventures together, from the sands of the Sahara to the green pastures of England. I can relate to the characters because I have a love of horses.

Once, a mute slave boy was sent by the king with the handsome stallion he cared for to another king. After a misunderstanding, Sham, the horse, was to be just a plain old horse. After many struggles and abuses, a breeding stable saw what a great horse Sham was. They took his grown colts and raced them since Sham was too old to race. The colts won many big races. Through these young horses from Sham would come a beautiful breed of horse, the Arabian. This books show that with lots of love, anyone can succeed at anything.
