The Hunger Games
by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games is about Katniss Everdeen a 16 year old girl who lives in district 12. She lives in the country of Panem and there once was 13 districts, but during a time they rebel against the capitol the rulers of Panem. In punishment they destroyed district 13 and every year after that they took 2 kids, one boy & one girl from each district. They send them to an arena that can be a jungle, desert, etc. The kids ages range between 12-18. They force them to kill and survive in this place and only one survives. Katniss' sister is selected so she takes her place with Peeta, a boy who once helped her in a time of need. They invent a romance that will help them survive. In the end the rules changes and there can be 2 winners but they have to be of the same district. In the end both Katniss & Peeta survive. I love this book. I do recommend it.

The United States is gone. North America is now Panem, a TV dominated dictatorship run from a city called Capitol. The rest of Panem is divided into 12 districts. The yearly highlight in this crazy world is the Hunger Games, a bloodthirsty reality TV show in which 24 teenagers chosen by lottery-two from each district-fight each other in a desolate environment call the "arena." The winner gets a life of ease: the losers get death. The only "unspoken rule" is that you can't eat the dead contestants. This book really is unique because it's like you're actually in the book! I recommended this book to all my friends, and they all enjoyed it! Stephenie Meyer, author of Twilight, even recommended it! I really enjoyed this book because it was so unique!
