Finding Buck McHenry
by Alfred Slote

In this book Jason Ross was cut from his baseball team and is supposed to play on the tow's new expansion team but the team doesn't have a coach or even enough players. So in an attempt to get a team together Jason makes new friends and learns a lot about the old African American baseball leagues. This book recognizes Josh Gibson, John Henry Lloyd, Buck McHenry, and cool Papa Bell and these guys are just a couple of the African Americans who played in these leagues. It also talks about the hard life they had to live due to racism and this book helps you have more respect for these guys. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends.
