Airborn
by Kenneth Oppel

Airborn is the story of Matt Cruse as an aspiring sailor in the early 1900's. But rather taking to the seas, the merchants, explorers, and even pirates have taken to the skies as pilots of airships of all sizes and variations that resemble Zeppelins or blimps from the era. I love this book for the fact that the author created his own world but paralleled the real world, like a similar but completely different dimension. The characters and settings are rich and believable. I found myself at times wondering what it would be like in Mr. Cruse's shoes. I think I would rather enjoy it.
