This thrilling fantasy novel is about a teenage girl living in Mid-evil time who possess "wild magic". Daines powers allow her to talk to and heal animals of all kinds. When her family is killed by raiders, Daine gets a job from the royal horse trader Onva and ends up meeting all kinds of royalty. Throughout her travels she learns to control her magic and finds a new family to call her own. I would definitely recommend this book to any teen girl who likes action and adventure with a touch of romance. The 3 other books in the series are must reads as well. MH 6/20/08
