When the Black Girl Sings
by Bil Wright

Lahni, a black girl has to face the fact she's different. Her parents are both white, everyone at her school is white and she loves singing more than anything else. While singing, she lets everything else fall away. This book was unique because in many ways you can sympathize with her. Lahni's perspective and thoughts throughout the book make it funny, interesting and suspenseful. This book wasn't what I expected because there were so many twists and turns.
