This book is the sequel to Abarat, when Candy Quackenbush is swept away by the sea to the magical land of the Abarat. In this second installment, Malingo is separated from Candy and now must captain a ship to pick up help, and then must fly to Candy's rescue. Meanwhile, Candy is learning about herself, and must keep herself safe from Christopher Carrion and his grandmother. This book is an excellent read. I enjoyed it, and I'm sure many other people would also enjoy this book. CM 07/17/07
