Do you belong to a book discussion group?
Are you considering starting a discussion group?
The St. Charles City-County Library District has a selection of ready-to-go, instant book discussion kits that are available for you!
Each book discussion kit contains 10 copies of a title and a discussion guide.
Click here to find a list of book discussion kits available at the library. The kits are listed in the online library catalog and can be found by using the subject: Book Discussion Kits or clicking on the Material Browsing button and selecting Book Discussion Kits.
Place a reserve on the kit you want to use at least one week in advance of pick up date. When placing the reserve from home or from the library, indicate if you prefer to be called or emailed when the kit is available at the branch you have selected. (Please note, there is a limit of two kits per person.)
The book discussion kit will be checked out for 6 weeks. (Sorry, no renewals are allowed.)
The fine for overdue book discussion kits is $1.00 per day per kit.
Kits are checked out to one person. Members of a book discussion group should get their individual copies to read from the person who has checked out the kit. Single copies of books in the kit cannot be checked out.
When you are finished with the kit, the complete kit must be returned to the Circulation Desk of any branch library during regular library hours. Sorry, these will not fit in the book drop!
There is a replacement cost of $60.00 for kits that are not returned. If some of the books in the kit are lost or damaged or the box is missing, replacement costs will be prorated.
For additional information regarding Book Discussion Kits, call your local branch library.
