The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents more than 30,000 members in 235 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy throught advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth and fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.
AFP believes that to guarantee human freedom and social creativity, people must have the right to freely and voluntarily form organizations to meet perceived needs, advocate causes, and seek funds to support these activities. To guarantee these rights, AFP's purposes are to:

Obedience to the Unenforceable: Ethics and the Nation’s Voluntary and Philanthropic Community
In August 2012, nonprofit experts from across the country were invited to serve on a national taskforce to examine the original Standards for Excellence code and to identify opportunities for development. The review concluded in July 2013 and included an extensive environmental scan of Standards for Excellence Institute members, Seal holders, partners, as well as nonprofit professionals and members of the general public. The taskforce’s work resulted in a fully revitalized program and distinct additions to the code in areas such as sustainability planning, resource development, cultural competency, board-executive relations, and disaster planning.

The Utah Nonprofits Association is the umbrella membership association of 501(c)(3) organizations in Utah. Incorporated in 1990, UNA was created by, and for, people who strive for a stronger, more professional not-for-profit community in Utah. The organization focuses on providing mutual support, management development through training opportunities and sector-wide advocacy. UNA is the only statewide membership association that reflects the full diversity of the nonprofit sector in Utah. UNA is Utah's official statewide affiliate of the National Council of Nonprofit Associations (NCNA). The current membership includes over 400 nonprofit organizations and individual members. UNA's members represent organizations of all sizes and mission areas, including arts and culture organizations, historical societies, homeless and battered women's shelters, agencies that provide services to children and families, community development organizations, environmental groups, museums, food banks, and many other types of nonprofits

The BBB Wise Giving Alliance was formed in 2001 with the merger of the National Charities Information Bureau and the Council of Better Business Bureaus Foundation and its Philanthropic Advisory Service. The BBB Wise Giving Alliance is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, affiliated with the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
The BBB Wise Giving Alliance collects and distributes information on hundreds of nonprofit organizations that solicit nationally or have national or international program services. It routinely asks such organizations for information about their programs, governance, fund raising practices, and finances when the charities have been the subject of inquiries.
The BBB Wise Giving Alliance never recommends one charity over another, and selects charities for evaluation based on the volume of donor inquiries about individual organizations. These policies allow the Alliance to serve donors' information needs and also help donors to make their own decisions regarding charitable giving.
All 129 local Better Business Bureaus in the United States disseminate Alliance educational materials. Local BBB's also report on organizations whose fund raising efforts are local in scope.
