Paraprofessional - Children's Services CRM
Reports to: Children’s Resources and Marketing Coordinator

Assist with District-wide Children’s Services to branches, provide Children’s Services outreach in the community and facilitate partnerships in the community to market library materials and services. Serve as Children’s Services liaison to Mini Branches and Library Expresses including communications, programming, collection maintenance, marketing and readers advisory. Assist CRM Coordinator with programs, events, materials, publications, workshops and webpage. May perform Children’s public service duties in Branch Libraries and may also perform clerical duties but these are not the primary functions of the position. Performs routine tasks independently and refers more complex questions and issues to the Children’s Resources and Marketing Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
|Serves as liaison to Mini branches and Library Expresses assisting with communications, programming, collection maintenance, marketing and readers advisory.|
|Plans and presents children’s programs in the community and at Mini Branches and Library Expresses.|
|Assists with the content and updates of the District’s children’s web page.|
|Maintains and/or develops partnerships with children’s organizations such as Parent as Teachers, Headstart, Early Childhood programs, etc.|
|Makes presentation for community events and represents the Library District at community activities.|
|Makes presentations to parent groups, students, teachers, and groups of children.|
|Performs or assists with development of District-wide Children’s Resources and Marketing programs and publications.|
|Travels to branches and community events and locations as needed to perform job duties.|
GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
|Assists with other clerical responsibilities as needed in Children’s Resources and Marketing.|
|May work in branch libraries interacting with customers and responding to basic Children’s Reference and Reader Service inquiries;|
|May assist customers with special needs or disabilities;|
|Performs special projects and assignments, and serves on District committees, as needed.|
Must be able to operate: copier, telephone, fax, personal computer, printer, automated catalog, and other library information equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: BS/BA degree in a field compatible with library service and one (1) year related experience in public or customer service and experience/education in children’s activities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of public library's function and purpose and ability to drive between branch locations and community events in St. Charles County.
OR: Two years of library experience at the library assistant level may be substituted for each year of college (30 credit hours = 1 year of college). For example, an applicant may have 3 years of college and 2 years as a library assistant; or 2 years of college and 4 years as a library assistant, etc.
Must successfully complete the District's Paraprofessional Training within one year of employment as a paraprofessional. At the discretion of the Director or Deputy Director, some or all of the Training classes may be waived based on prior library course work.
