ST.CHARLES COUNTY MARRIAGES
1805-1854
Index of St. Charles
County first three books, from records copied and held at
Archives. Handwriting is often extremely hard to decipher in 1840s
especially. Occasionally two pages have the same number, sometime
with added letters, which should be kept in mind when looking up a
record. Numbers begin with 1 for each book, so date will decide which
record book to consult. The first three books of the county have been
divided into five books at the Archives, for ease of use.
Earliest records may have the
name of the recorder, instead of a minister or church official. The
books dealt with in this index are:
Book 1 1805-1826, 217 records
Book 2 1826-1837, 466 records
Book 2B 1837-1844, 553 records
Book 3 1844-1850, 586 records
Book 3B 1850-1854, 567 records
Contained here are 2,389
records. However a few marriages have been recorded twice. Spelling
is as written, not as the name may have been commonly spelled by the
family.

Actual records of the marriages, and marriage licenses where
available, are held by the Recorders Office, St. Charles, Missouri.
