PARAPROFESSIONAL – COMMUNITY BRANCH
Location: North County Branch, 1825 Commonfield Rd., Portage Des Sioux, MO 63373
Status: Part Time, Approximately 20 hours per week
Schedule: Tuesday 12pm to 8pm, Thursday 9am to 8pm, every other Saturday 9am-12pm
Duties: Performs public service duties and all tasks necessary for the day-to-day operation of the community library branch. Responds to initial reference inquiries, performs reference interviews, locates the basic information or materials and offers alternate sources. Performs circulation functions, including reserves, overdue materials, and shelving of materials. Plans and presents programs for all ages, merchandises the collection, and actively engages in reader advisory with children, young adults, and adults. Assists customers with e-readers/other devices and use of technology within the library. Serves as the Library District’s contact within the community.
Requirements: BA/BS degree and minimum 1 year of experience in customer or public service. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent customer services skills required. In lieu of a college degree, two years’ experience as a library assistant may be substituted for 30 college credit hours.
Physical Requirements: Physical work associated with the position includes, but is not limited to: bending, walking, kneeling, pushing, pulling, standing, lifting and moving 25-30 pounds minimum in library material. Ability to hear and speak with library customers, as well as reach high and low to return materials to the shelves. Sufficient personal mobility to attend meetings at various locations within the District.
Compensation: $15.65 per hour Salary Track: D
