SECTION E: PersonnelPolicy Number EO32.866Classification Specification - IT- Network AdministratorDepartment: Information Technology (IT) Reports to: Coordinator of Information Technology Salary Track: I-J FLSA Status: Exempt Salary: SUMMARY:Perform duties necessary for the design, development, installation, configuration, management and maintenance of the Library District’s network infrastructure and components. Responsible for network hardware and software including network security, patches, firewalls, and recommending defensive security measures. Primary support for staff workstations. Performs technical duties requiring the exercise of skill, initiative and independent judgment working cooperatively with IT Department, Administrative and Branch staff to accomplish District goals. Interface with Computer Systems Administrator to ensure appropriate resolution during system outages or hardware failures. Works independently on assignments with general instruction on results expected, recommending to IT Coordinator proposed plans for projects, and receiving guidance on unusual or complex issues. May serve as liaison with a variety of committees and organizations inside and outside the Library District system. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

EQUIPMENT USED:Desktop and laptop computers, printers, and other computer and electronic equipment used for District communications; electronic and network diagnostic and repair tools; diagnostic, performance, and security software programs; and District delivery van.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Must have experience with network operating systems and hold a BA/BS in a related field. Must have strong communication skills to explain complex ideas easily, have proven organizational and customer service skills, and be able to work independently and in a team. (Under exceptional circumstances, relevant experience or training may be substituted for degree requirement.) Must have at least 5 years experience in IT and 3 years as a Microsoft Network Administrator. MCSE, MCTS, or MCITP certification or equivalent preferred, but not required.
