Recognition Programs

Recognition Program for Non-Use of Sick Leave

The sick leave recognition program is designed to reward employees who make little or no use of sick leave.  Employees are eligible to receive a monetary payment, equal to their budgeted hours per week for each quarter for non-use of sick leave.  For the purpose of this program, the year will be divided into four quarters, beginning with the first day of the following pay periods:

November 22 – Part time non-exempt employees

December 1 – Full time or part time exempt employees

If an employee successfully works all four quarters without using sick leave, then a fifth quarter is available, the sum equal to the budgeted hours per week.

EXAMPLE:  An employee budgeted at 20 hours per week who works all year without using sick leave will receive $20 for 4 quarters, plus $20 for the fifth quarter, totaling $100.

Employees who have reached the maximum accrual of 600 hours of accumulated sick leave and do not use sick leave during the year will receive a matching amount equal to all five quarters.

EXAMPLE:  An employee receiving a $100 recognition (5 quarters at  $20/quarter) will receive a matching amount of $100, making the total $200.

Recognition checks are subject to federal and state taxes, and will be issued with the December 15 or January 15 paycheck.

The recognition will be given to those eligible staff members based on their status at the beginning of the quarter.  Employees resigning or whose employment is terminated prior to the end of the recognition year will not receive credit for their non-use of sick leave.

Employee Recognition Program

A recognition program has been established to recognize Library District employees for outstanding job performance and dedication.  Management may individually recognize employees for contributions made toward a specific project, for performance of duties with excellence, or for developing concepts which have saved the Library District money.

General recognition for all employees will be coordinated annually by the Human Resources Coordinator.
