Friends of the Library

The primary objective of the Friends of the St. Charles City-County Library District is to stimulate interest in the Library and acquaint the community with our services. Employees of the Library District are encouraged to join the Friends.

Proceeds from fund raising activities sponsored by the Friends are donated to the Library District. Generally, Branch Managers request funding for purchases or sponsorships from the Friends of the Library. The Friends’ grants are usually for items that are outside the Library District’s budget and have been used to fund "emergency" purchases for equipment not budgeted by the District. The Friends are willing to consider all proposals but suggest the Branch Managers present them on behalf of their staff or customers.

As citizen advocates, the Friends support the District as a lobby group within state government. The Friends also organize special events such as the annual Book Fair and annual Volunteer Reception.

The Friends sponsor the volunteer-staffed Books ‘N More Gift Shop in the Spencer Road Branch. All library employees are entitled to a 10% discount on all purchases from Books ‘N More.
