
Family Leave
In compliance with the Family & Medical Leave Act of 1993, full time and part time employees may be granted family leave in accordance with the District's policies on the use of annual leave, sick leave, or leave without pay. The leave may be granted for:
- The birth of a child and the care of such child;
- The placement of a child for adoption or foster care;
- Serious illness of an employee's spouse, child, father, mother;
- A serious illness/health condition that makes the employee unable to perform his or her job functions.
An employee may request up to 12 weeks of family leave, either paid or unpaid leave, in a 12-month period. To qualify for family leave an employee must be employed full time for 12 months or part time for 1,250 hours. Refer to the Policy Manual.
