Communication with Staff

The Library District communicates with staff in a number of ways in an effort to keep you as well informed as possible. Questions, suggestions and comments from staff are always welcome.

STAFF NEWSLETTER: The "Grapevine" is required reading every week to find out what’s going on in the Library District! Each branch and department receives a copy, and it should also be available in the staff room. The newsletter usually arrives on Saturday. It contains a weekly calendar of activities, news about employees, questions from employees, job openings, public relation news about the District, and information concerning current events, policies and meetings within the District. Each branch should have a reporter responsible for gathering news or employees can send news directly to the Community Resource Bureau.

PUBLICATIONS: A variety of publications dealing with library news and programs are distributed to the public. Staff may want to scan these publications to keep up-to-date on what’s going on at the library.

MEMOS: Memos are frequently sent to branches or departments notifying employees of changes in policies, new procedures, etc.

E-MAIL: Each employee of the Library District is eligible to have their own e-mail account. Branch managers or department heads may send e-mail to update employees on current information.

INTRABRANCH COMMUNICATION: Each branch may have a special way of communicating with staff members. Intrabranch communication may be through regular staff meetings, staff bulletin and/or mailboxes, notebook of branch activities, etc. Check with your supervisor to determine how communication within your branch is handled.
