ABOUT OUTREACH
* A program designed to provide library service to the homebound, nursing home residents, preschools & daycares, jails, retirement centers, senior citizen centers, etc..

* The program relies heavily on the use of volunteers for home visits.

* For information call Georgia Glidden at 978-3251.

ACCESSIBILITY
All library buildings are handicapped accessible. Staff are available to help lift books off of shelves, carry materials, or assist in finding information.

AUDIO BOOKS ON CD & TAPE
The Library District has an extensive collection of books on CD and tape. The collection includes popular fiction and classics as well as non-fiction.

BOOKS TO YOU
Through the Books to You program customers who are homebound may have reading materials including books, large print books and books on CD & tape delivered directly to their home! Volunteers are paired up with homebound customers and bring their clients reading material tailored to their interests. Voluteers have a state background check before they are assigened a client.

Some clients are not totally homebound. Many are individuals who are living on their own but are dependent on children or friends for transportation. Others are people whose driving is now limited to necessary trips or short distances.

To receive homebound service or to volunteer to provide homebound service, call the Deer Run Branch at 978-3261. Referrals of people who may be interested in this service are welcome.

LARGE PRINT BOOKS
Each branch library has a collection of large print books that includes a variety of popular fiction and classics as well as non-fiction. Large print books are also available through interlibrary loan if a specific title is not available within the Library District.

PROGRAMS
If a sign interpreter or any special assistance is needed for a program, call the branch library seven days in advance.

WOLFNER LIBRARY for the Blind & Physically Handicapped
Each library branch has applications for Wolfner Library services. Wolfner is Missouri’s library for the blind and physically handicapped. Equipment and materials are mailed free of charge to anyone who qualifies for this service. Customers do not have to be blind to take advantage of talking books or braille materials from Wolfner. Anyone who cannot hold a book, whose eyes tear up, or has other disabilities, either permanently or temporarily, that prevent use of regular printed materials may qualify.

For more information about free library services from Wolfner Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped visit the Wolfner Library Website, or call 1-800-392-2614.
