Salary Schedule - Position Reclassification


At certain times it may be necessary to reclassify a position to a lower grade. If a position is so reclassified, the following will apply:

  1. The salary track at the lower level will be extrapolated (when necessary) to include the incumbent’s salary at the time the position is reclassified;
  2. The incumbent’s salary shall be reduced at the rate of one salary step per year beginning at the time of reclassification until it is commensurate with one of equal class and seniority.

Position reclassification is based on such issues as reduction of service, financial exigency, reorganization or reasons of organizational efficiency. This reclassification should not be confused with a demotion.
