The CIR program provides monthly, quarterly and annual measures of industrial activity. Its primary objective is to produce timely, accurate data on production and shipments of selected products.

EdgarScan pulls filings from the SEC's servers and parses them automatically to find key financial tables and normalize financials to a common format that is comparable across companies.

Sorkins Directory of Business & Government-St. Louis Edition

This is a 6-volume annual publication of businesses and governmental entities that reside in the St. Louis-metro area. The first three volumes identify businesses alphabetically and give a short summary of the business and key information such as contacts, geographic, sales, and employee information. Other volumes are dedicated to industry, geography, and names. The industry volume lists the businesses in the first three volumes by the industry with which they are identified. The geography volume lists the businesses by city. The names volume lists key people in the businesses.

American Big Business Directory

This two-volume annual publication lists approximately 67,000 organizations located in the United States that employ 250 people and above. Both volumes in this set are divided into four separate sections: alphabetical listing of companies, businesses by city, businesses classified by Standard Industry Code, and key executives and directors.

American Manufacturers Directory

This annual resource lists approximately 151,000 manufacturers who reside in the United States. Both volumes in this set divide listings by name alphabetically, geographically by city, and by Standard Industry Code (SIC).

American Wholesalers and Distributors Directory
BR 338 American
This annual book provides a listing of approximately 29,000 wholesalers and distributors who reside in the United States and Puerto Rico. The directory lists companies by product categories, Standard Industry Codes (SIC), geography, and alphabetically by name.

Harris Missouri Services Directory

This annual directory lists Missouri service companies that have 25 or more employees. They are listed geographically, by SIC (Standard Industry Codes), alphabetically, and by service provided. The book also has useful tables of statistics.

Harris Missouri Directory of Manufacturers

This annual directory lists manufacturers that exist in Missouri. The companies are listed alphabetically, geographically, by Standard Industry Codes (SIC), and by product. There is also a valuable statistics section.

Databases

The library district subscribes to several online databases that may help you with your research. Those with a "Remote Access" button can be used from your home computer with a valid library card.

Following the link to the electronic databases will take you out of the Business & Public Management web pages and into the main library pages.

For information regarding companies and their industry, you may want to try the Business and Company Resource Center or Reference USA.

In Business and Company Resource Center, you may search for the company by the ticker symbol or you can search for industry overviews.

Reference USA allows you to look up a specific company and find information like the address, phone number, and a list of executives. Or, you can use the custom search to find all businesses of a certain type in a specific area. For example, all pet stores in St. Charles County.
